Conflict between Homosexuals and the Church Analyzed in Self-published Book

The institution of marriage – that is, between a man and a woman – gets a serious challenge from gay and lesbian couples who headed to California this week to get marriage licenses after the state’s Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriages.

Reactions to the court’s decision are as varied as the couples who come to California to get married. This comes as an encouragement to same-sex couples who have long waited to make their union legal. For conservative and religious groups, however, it is a different story altogether.

Some religious leaders applaud the decision as a step toward equality while other say this move will have negative effects on children. One pastor from Chino Hills, in response to the issue of the legalization of same-sex marriage, said the judges of the California Supreme Court have ”crossed over from the realm of judicial or legislative powers into the church. They stepped inside of our churches, inside of our pulpits, inside of our Bible and redefined marriage for us.”

This predicament is not only depicted by the rallying of gay and lesbian couples to California but also in the Xlibris book “The Church vs. Homosexuals: a Christian Response to the Contemporary Conflict”. Author Frederick C. Osborn puts a microscope on America's culture war between the church and homosexuals – and issue that is ever-present in newspapers, magazines, on talk radio, and on television every day.

The Church vs. Homosexuals delves into the roots of the advocacy for gay rights and the extent of the demands and goals set by gays and lesbians in the United States. Osborn also traces the shift of the conflict’s venue from the streets into the pews and pulpits of mainline Christian denomination, with the threat of Federal courts forcing ministers and pastors to officiate the marriage of gay and lesbian couples.

Osborn presents his observations on both sides of the conflict and produces a distinctive viewpoint on the argument between homosexuals and the church.

The Church vs. Homosexuals is available on the Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Xlibris online bookstores.
